The
NLLEA is committed to the professional development of its members. To
assist its member agencies in achieving their enforcement and regulatory
objectives, the NLLEA sponsors a national training academy. Since the
first session in 1996 (Click here for
a history of the NLLEA Training Academy), the academy has grown to encompass
four separate and distinct phases of training each held during the same
week.
Phase
I (Basic) - Courses related to underage drinking issues, fraudulent
IDs, investigations on licensed premises, and handling informants.
Phase
II (Advanced) - Courses related to financial and hidden ownership
investigations and critical incident stress management, among others.
Phase
III (Special Investigations) - Specialty courses such as video gambling; using the internet as a tool to gather intelligence on underage sales, consumption and illegal parties; and other investigations.
Phase
IV (Leadership) - Specialty course designed for first line supervisors,
especially ones who have recently been promoted.
These
courses are designed to improve the specialized knowledge and professional
skills of officers for effective and efficient administration and enforcement
of state and provincial alcohol beverage laws.
