Dear NLLEA Members,
Thank you for entrusting me with the honor of serving as NLLEA’s board president for 2016-17. During my past three years on the board I have been fortunate to work with strong leaders that have strengthened the Association and helped it to grow and succeed; as President I plan to continue that advancement for our members and partners.
On behalf of this year’s Executive Board, Justin Nordhorn, Robert Kracyla, Greg Croft, Wes Kuhl and myself, I would like to thank you for your continued support and assistance with the Association. Your membership helps the Association continue to offer important services such as weekly enforcement news; access to key alcohol law enforcement contacts throughout the country; a professional development and training program including an annual conference, regional trainings, and a national training symposium; and funding opportunities for alcohol related operations that help ensure public safety. We plan to continue to offer these services while adding additional benefits for our members.
Recently the Association has worked on numerous projects that have supported the work of alcohol law enforcement, including source investigations, impaired driving crackdown initiatives, and training local law enforcement about the role of alcohol law enforcement in protecting public safety. NLLEA is currently working on a new, online system to help capture Place of Last Drink (POLD) information on a local, state, and eventually national level. By collecting POLD data, law enforcement agencies can more effectively use resources to identify problem establishments and respond to community concerns. NLLEA will be working with a select number of interested member agencies to collect POLD data on a regular basis from state and local law enforcement agencies that can then be used by these same law enforcement agencies to conduct enforcement and educational operations to reduce over service with establishments identified as needing extra attention. We look forward to partnering with our members on this new initiative and sharing early results of the program with you.
We always appreciate when members reach out to and engage with the Association. If you have ideas or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact any of the members on the Executive Board or NLLEA Staff. We look forward to hearing from you.
2016 – 2017 President
